U16 INFORMATION - PLAYERS
The OWHA U16 High Performance Program is designed to introduce female hockey athletes to the High Performance setting. This program offers athletes an opportunity to participate in an OWHA High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp, and possibly be selected to participate in the Ontario Summer Games that will take place in London, Ontario during August 2024.
The OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will offer a highly competitive tryout process through game competition.
This program is through a player application process. OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are open to all athletes registered within the OWHA who qualify under the age restrictions, meet the additional qualifications below, and feel they have the skills to compete at this level.
It is the responsibility of the participant to identify when these camps will take place and apply before the deadline. Please see at the bottom of this document the dates and locations for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary/Tryout Camps in May 2024.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT CAMP INFORMATION

OWHA athletes who meet the age restrictions will have the opportunity to apply through an application process to attend an OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in hopes of being selected to participate in the Ontario Summer Games in August 2024

Only athletes who are accepted to the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp will be considered for Ontario Summer Games in August 2024

In order to qualify and possibly be selected for the Ontario Summer Games in August 2024, athletes must participate in the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp selection process in May 2024

OWHA evaluations out of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will be the only determining criteria for selection to the Ontario Summer Games in 2024, evaluations completed by non-OWHA assigned individuals will NOT be part of the selection process.

This opportunity is open to Ontario residents only, athletes applying must be registered within the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association

Players must be registered with, and actively play on an Ontario Women’s Hockey Association competitive team during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons to be eligible to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout camp in May 2024

Players must be prepared to make a full commitment to the program, this includes, but not limited to attending the May 2024 OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in its entirety.

The OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are open for athletes born in the years 2009 - 2010 ONLY.

If you believe you may qualify as a potential team member for one of the May 2024 camps, we encourage you to apply for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout camps.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT APPLICATION INFORMATION

All participants wishing to attend the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout camps in May 2024 must apply online.

Athletes will only be selected to attend one preliminary camp in May 2024

ONLY ONLINE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED

Applications must be received by the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association by no later than 11:59 pm on March 10, 2024.

Please keep in mind that this is an application process, not a registration, attendance at one of the camps is not guaranteed.

Athletes wishing to attend one of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are encouraged to apply early as camps have filled up quickly in past years

The OWHA reserves the right to make the final decisions on all athletes wishing to attend the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps

The OWHA does not support non-sanctioned spring/summer hockey and therefore will not make exceptions for camp dates.
OWHA U16 HP PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT CAMP DETAILS
IMPORTANT NOTICE:

All players are to arrange their own transportation and accommodation to, and from the OWHA U16 HP Camps, the OWHA resumes no responsibility for costs in relation to transportation or accommodations.

It is mandatory that all athletes arrive at the arena as per their identified team registration time and remain at the arena until the conclusion of each day unless otherwise determined by the OWHA, athletes will not be permitted to leave the facility during the duration of the one-day camp.

Players will be required to have meals with their team during the day, and spend their day with their team while they are at the camp.

Meals will be provided by the OWHA while players are at camp, this being said athletes are responsible for their own breakfast before arriving at camp, and any snacks they wish during camp.

Ice time, jerseys, off ice presentation, meals, on ice/off ice officials, and volunteer staff are all included in the participants registration fee.

Athletes attending the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Camps will NOT receive feedback, or an evaluation of their on-ice performance at camp, this information is confidential and for OWHA internal use only.

Payment is accepted via cash, cheque or money order and is to be made payable to the OWHA and mailed to:

Please send payment along to the OWHA upone completion of the application.
Payment will only be processed when the player has been confirmed for a specific Identificaiton/Tryout Camp.

Successful athletes selected to attend the Ontario Summer Games in August 2024 out of the OWHA HP Identification/Tryout Camps will be notified of their acceptance no later than June 12, 2024, athletes will be notified through email, so please make sure you provide your correct email address to the OWHA when applying for the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp

Please note that only successful athletes selected out of the OWHA U16 HP Preliminary/Identification Camps and invited to participate at the Ontario Summer Games will receive an email, if you do not receive an email from the OWHA by June 12, 2024 then you were not selected for the Ontario Summer Games

Once the athlete selection process for the Ontario Summer Games is completed the OWHA will continue to pass along additional information on the Ontario Summer Games as it becomes available to successful candidates
2024 ONTARIO SUMMER GAMES INFORMATION AND IMPORTANT DATES

Location: London, Ontario (Western University)

Date: OWHA OSG’S Pre-Camp (Tuesday, July 30 and Wednesday July 31, 2024). Athletes would be expected to arrive in London, Ontario at Western University by 6:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, for orientation, dinner and presentation.

When does the Women’s Ice Hockey Officially Start at the Ontario Summer Games:

Women’s Ice Hockey at the Ontario Summer Games runs from August 1, 2024 to August 4, 2024

Additional information as per the Ontario Summer Games will be sent out to selected athletes as it becomes available.

Please keep in mind that Athletes will not be permitted to participate in more than one sport at the Ontario Summer Games in August 2024 if selected to play ice hockey by the OWHA.
