U16 INFORMATION - PLAYERS
2025 OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
The OWHA U16 High Performance Program is designed to introduce players to the High Performance setting. This program offers athletes an opportunity to participate in an OWHA High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp and possibly be selected to participate in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association’s High Performance Development Camp in July 2025.
The OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will offer a highly competitive tryout process through game competition. Prior to the camp the athlete is selected for, there will be a mandatory 2-hour virtual presentation on the OWHA High Performance Program. This presentation is included in the cost of the camp.
Athletes selected to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps is through a player application process.
OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are open to all athletes registered within the OWHA who qualify under the age restrictions, meet all the additional qualifications below, and feel they have the skills to compete at this level.
Interested participants are encouraged to check the OWHA website frequently for dates and locations of camps along with instructions on how to apply for a preliminary camp online. It is the responsibility of the participant to identify when these camps will take place and apply before the deadline. Please see below the dates and locations for the 2025 camps.
INFORMATION ON THE 2025 OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
- OWHA registered athletes who meet the age restrictions, and the qualifications listed below will have the opportunity to apply through an application process to attend an OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in hopes of being selected to participate in the OWHA U16 High Performance Development Camp in July 2025.
- Only athletes who are accepted to the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp will be considered for the OWHA U16 High Performance Camp in July 2025.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT ATHLETES AND PARENTS SHOULD UNDERSTAND IN RELATION TO THE OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM IN 2025
- To qualify and possibly be selected for the OWHA U16 High Performance Camp in July 2025, athletes must participate in the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp selection process in May/June 2025
- OWHA evaluations out of the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps will be the only determining criteria for selection to the OWHA U16 High Performance Development Camp in July 2025. Evaluations done by non-OWHA assigned individuals will NOT be part of the process
- There will be NO evaluations or feedback provided to athletes who attend the OWHA U16 Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps, athlete evaluations out of the preliminary camps are for OWHA internal use only
- This opportunity is open to Ontario residents only, and athletes who meet the guidelines below

- The OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps in May/June 2025 are open to athletes born in the years 2010 - 2011 ONLY!
- This opportunity is open to Ontario residents only, and athletes who meet the guidelines below
- Players must be registered with, and actively play on an Ontario Women’s Hockey Association competitive team during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons to be eligible to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout camps in May/June 2025 (there is no exception to this policy)
- Players must be prepared to make a full commitment to the program, this includes, but not limited to attending the May/June 2025 OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camp in its entirety, being available for the 2-hour virtual presentation as defined leading up to camp, and if selected to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Development Camp in July 2025, athletes would be expected to attend this camp in its entirety
- If you believe you may qualify as a potential team member for one of the May/June 2025 camps, we encourage you to apply for one of the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout camps.
IMORTANT NOTE IN RELATION TO THE JULY 2025 OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT CAMP
- Successful athletes invited out of the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Camp will be notified of their acceptance to the July 2025 OWHA U16 High Performance Development Camp no later than June 10th, 2025
- Only successful athletes selected out of the OWHA High Performance Preliminary/Tryout Camps will be notified on or before June 10th, 2025. If you do not hear from the OWHA on or before June 10th, 2025, then you were not selected to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Development Camp in July 2025
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
- All participants wishing to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps in May/June 2025 must apply online.
- Athletes will only be selected to attend one preliminary camp in May/June 2025
- ONLY ONLINE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED
- Applications must be received no later than March 1st, 2025, athletes who apply after the noted deadline will be placed on a waiting list with no guarantee of acceptance to a camp.
- This is an application process, not a registration, attendance at one of the camps is not guaranteed
- Athletes invited to attend the OWHA U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout Camps are not guaranteed the date/dates they select on the application form, however the OWHA will try to accommodate athletes on the date/dates they select
- Athletes wishing to attend one of the OWHA U16 High Performance Preliminary Identification/Tryout Camps are encouraged to apply early as camps have filled up quickly in the past
- THE OWHA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE FINAL DECISIONS ON ALL ATHLETES ATTENDING THE OWHA U16 PRELIMINARY IDENTIFICATION/TRYOUT CAMPS.
IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR SUCCESSFUL ATHLETES WHO HAVE BEEN INVITED TO ATTEND AN OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE PRELIMINARY IDENTITFICATION/TRYOUT CAMP OUT OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS
All athletes invited to attend an OWHA U16 High Performance Identification/Tryout camp are to arrange their own:
- Transportation
- Accommodation (if required)
- Meals
- Camps will run in a tournament format where the athletes will be responsible for their own meals/snacks/water.
- Athletes are required to attend all team activities, including warmups and games during the camp and will be under the care of the OWHA. Parents/guardians are responsible for the player at all other times.
The OWHA assumes no responsibility for costs in relation to transportation, accommodation, or meals.
It is mandatory that all athletes arrive at the arena at the start of each day and remain at the arena until the conclusion of their scheduled events (with the exception of meals).

- Ice time, jerseys and off-ice presentations will be supplied at camp and are included in the participant registration fees.

- There will be a mandatory virtual presentation prior to camp for all participants.
- All participants must bring their own refillable water bottle to camp. Sharing of water bottles is not permitted.
DATES AND LOCATIONS OF OWHA U16 HIGH PERFORMANCE PRELIMINARY IDENTICATION/TRYOUT CAMPS IN MAY/JUNE 2025 WILL BE POSTED BELOW ONCE THEY BECOME AVAILABLE.
