OWHA officials are required to register in the Hockey Canada Registration (HCR) system to access clinics and mandatory components of recertification for the coming season.
There are changes to the HCR registration process, please see the information below for how to complete the new registration.
Prior to attending a live in-person clinic, you will have to ensure that you have completed all the online components (both moduels and pass the national exam).
The off-season is the perfect time to ensure that you are prepared to register for your clinic and be ready for the start of the season. Officials perform a vital role in our game and without you hockey would not happen.
ALL Officials are required to complete Online Modules which includes the National Exam and attend in person clinics. Details for the live in-person clinics will be posted once they become available.
It will be necessary for officials to have a current valid and current Police Record Check on your profile in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) in order to register for a clinic.
Check your profile in the HCR to ensure that a Police Check is current and on file.
For terminology purposes, VSC and VSS are one and the same document.
Log into your Spordle Account and go into 'My Account'. Click on your History tab and then 'Background Check' to see the current status of your Police Record Check, ncluding the expiry date.
If your expiration date is prior to the 2023-24 season, you must obtain and submit a new Police Record Check to the OWHA before you will be able to register to register for an officials clinic.
Note: A VSC / VSS document is only required to be on your HCR profile ONCE. If your VSC / VSS has expired, then you only need to provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
Completed Police Check documents must be scanned and emailed as a PDF to the OWHA via clinics@owha.on.ca.
If submitting via scan (PDF) and it is not deemed a true copy, submission of the original by mail will be requested (pictures or images of your document will NOT be accepted).
Please contact the OWHA office via email (clinics@owha.on.ca) if you have any questions on this process.
