The OWHA is pleased to share details on The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture, a new national education and training platform introduced by Hockey Canada.
We are encouraged to see meaningful steps to address and positively influence hockey culture across the country. This is an important priority that aligns closely with OWHA’s long-standing commitment to safe, inclusive, and respectful environments for all participants.

The Shift Forward represents a modernized approach to hockey education, designed to better support everyone involved in the game.

The program was piloted with five Member Branches during the 2025-26 season and will expand further in 2026-27.
To support a smooth transition, existing training will continue to be recognized as equivalent during a multi-year phase-in period.
